This introductory course covers all you need to know about how to represent the world around you through your camera, and how to change camera functions and controls, which are critically important skills to create meaningful images.

Each lesson we concentrate on exercises to help you practice and consolidate your learning. During this time one on one feedback will be provided to improve your photographs on the day. You will need an SLR camera, tripod preferable - all levels of experience are catered for.

Topics include:

Session 1: Understanding your Camera
Introduction to the functions and features of your digital camera, and how they effect the appearance of your images.

Session 2: Composition and Focus
This session explores composition and focus. You will learn about, and understand different compositions and how to use them to create interesting and engaging images.

Session 3: Aperture and Depth of Field
This session is all about depth of field, what it is and how to change camera settings. You will learn how depth of field changes the focal point in your images.

Session 4: Shutter Speed and Motion
This session concentrates on capturing motion and how to use shutter speed variations to capture movement and what effect it has on your images.

Session 5: Lighting and ISO
This session explores lighting and ISO, understand where the light source is coming from, and how to change the settings on your camera to adjust for different lighting conditions.

Session 6: Manual Control Exercises
This session we recap all skills learnt in previous sessions, with your camera on full manual mode.
